Postby sonicchaos1993 on Fri Dec 12, 2008 4:54 pm

The Mana Series is an RPG game series for the computer that I designed. The first game in the series, The Amulet of Mana, will hopefully be released by the end of the year. Future games in the series:
The People of Mana, In development
Chronicles of a Light Mage, In planning
Children of the Amulet, In development

Story: 50 years ago, in the land of Alathagia, a dark being known as the Dark Lord of Alathagia. He covered the land in darkness and it seemed as if none could stop him until a girl named Julie used the Amulet of Mana to seal him away. Now, his prison is weakening, and the Light Mage Matt and Julie's granddaughter, Swift, begin a quest to seal away the Dark Lord once again...

Cheats: Currently, none, though the testing version does have a cheat that allows the user to walk over anything. I may or may not add cheats later.

Tips: Some of the bosses can be tough if you avoid every random encounter, but if you fight in every random encounter your HP will be lower when you face the boss. You may want to find a balance between fleeing and fighting in random encounters. Also, sometimes there are ways to get items that you may not notice... In the Venom Mine, Remember that you can't see what is in the darkness...

Gameplay Hours: I get through it pretty fast, but I have the aforementioned cheat and I know where everything is. I have yet to hear from the testers about game length. I know that my sister has taken a while and hasn't finished it yet, but she avoids every battle she can and has a difficult time with the bosses as a result. You can revisit practially every area after finishing the game though, so you can replay caves and boss battles and such. There is also a bonus quest at the end of the game.
Oh yeah, and after defeating the Dark Lord, you can revisit any area with any character, and you also unlock the sound room where you can listen to the game's music.

1. Matt (Light Mage), Swift (Fighter), May (Hunter), Kevin (Lancer), Catyalya (Fighter), Keahi (Warrior), Gloria (Cleric), Lily (Mage)

2. This is a turn based RPG. You have a basic attack and Skills, which include magic and special attacks.

3. Turn by Turn.

4. No jobs, but you can get money by selling items and from defeating monsters.

5. Yes.

6. You gain EXP for each enemy you kill, getting a certain amount causes you to level up.

7. There are several types of weapons: Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mythril. While you can't upgrade a weapon, you can purchase more powerful ones.

8. No. (Maybe I'll add alot of these features in the sequel) However, you can gather crystals and bring them to a certain shop to get Crystal equipment (Crystal Sword, Crystal Sheild, Fire Blade, Ice Blade, Water Blade, Earth Blade, Mana Blade)

9. No.

I like the make your own weapon one... I'll probaly add that to the sequel.

The amount of GP earned is always the same. In one of the future games in the series, there is a banking system with interest.

...So you're saying that games like Final Fantasy aren't well thought out. Just because a game doesn't have what you want doesn't mean that its a bad game.
The Amulet of Mana is a more traditional style RPG.
