How to Become a Mod

Postby sonicchaos1993 on Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:57 am

Do you want to become a mod? Here is some information on the different types of mod you could become and how you could become one.
The two main types of mods are
Moderators and
Super Mods.
Super Mods can moderate more forums than Moderators.
Also, most forum sections have their own Mods. i.e. Kirby Mod, Sonic Mod, etc. This is only for the major forums like Kirby, Sonic, etc.

How to become a Mod:
1. Follow the rules. You'll have a better chance at becoming a mod if you follow the rules.

2. Be Active. If you post many helpful topics or replys, you will have a good chance at being a Mod. Please don't spam, though. This will lessen your chances. For example: KirbyGuy300 follows the rules and is active in the Kirby forums. He has only made 10 posts in the Kirby section but they were all informative. Many of them were good responses to questions by other users. MetaKnight1840 also follows the rules. However, he has made a whopping 35 posts. However, few were informative and some were spam. I would make KirbyGuy300 a Kirby Mod, and I would not consider MetaKnight1840 as a Kirby Mod, since most of his posts were spam and therefore useless to some of the other members.

3. Tell me about good (and bad) deeds. If you post a question in the forum, and another user gives you a really good answer, let me know so that I can reward them. This will actually boost your chances at being a mod if you are honest about the person. It will hurt you if you lie, since I will check their post! Now, if you find somebody breaking the rules, you should let me know (via PM). If you are active against rule-breakers, you will be more likely to become a Mod. Again, don't lie.

4. Follow authority. If one of the other Mods or myself locks your topic or deletes for some reason, do not PM or email them a flame message in retailiation. If you think that the lock/deletion was unfair, PM me the reasons why you think it was unfair. (Be sure to include the topic name). Don't do this for deleted topics. They cannot be brought back. Sorry.

5. If you are a mod, DON'T ABUSE YOUR POWERS! If you are a mod, and you lock/delete a post/topic, please have a good reason! locking a topic because you don't like somebody is not a good reason. Locking a topic because the creator was just posting his website URL over and over and over, however, is a good reason. If you lock/delete a topic for a bad reason, and the topic creator tells me about it, you could get a warning or lose your mod powers, depending on how much the powers were abused.
